Background
  • Any work on the coolant gas circuit should be performed by qualified personnel in an authorized workshop.

  • To perform maintenance work on the coolant gas circuit special tools shoul be needed.

  • In order to guarantee a perfect working of the air conditioning equipment, it is necessary to carry out punctually required maintenance work.

  • An adecuate handling of the equipment and the certificate of having carried out required maintenance work are conditions for the validity of the guarantee related to components under maintenance.

  • Maintenance
  • Just inmediatly after putting into service the vehicle, any fixing point of the equipment and the joints of the coolant gas pipes should be checked,as well as the belt should be made taut.

  • Even when de the equipment is not used, wear and tear in the resistance of some components might be caused, because of the ordinary agening of the materials or the number of request made while the vehicle is moving. For this very reason, checkings should be made independently of the time that the air conditioning equipment has been working.

  • Just the same way, loss of coolant gas might occur even if there is absolute seal between joints. It is due to the material structure of the flexible pipes of the coolant gas circuit, which show a diffusion index whose magnitude depends on the surrounding temperature. Just in case you detect a major loss of coolant gas in a short time, you can guess that there is a leak in the circuit.

  • Cleaning of the foils of the condenser and the evaporator should be made with compressed air, in opposite direction of the airflow, in case those units show contamination evidence. If there is dirt or grease, the units should be cleaned with soapy water or any other non-agressive cleaning solution suitable for copper or aluminium, ending with compressed air under flowing water.

  • The drying filter should be changed, at least, once every two years. Nevertheless, it should be changed everytime that any work is performed in the coolant gas circuit.

  • Crewcabs have an hermetic system with external air intake with filter, which should be cleaned after 12 hours of work.
  • WARNING
Coolant gas should not be released into fresh air (prohibition rule CFC-Halon 06/05/91).
    Check and Maintenance
    Check and Maintenance
PART OF THE EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE WORK FREQUENCY
Coolant gas Switch the equipment on 10 min. every fortnight
Connections Vapour tightness test with leak-finder Yearly
    Condenser Clean Weekly
Drying filter Change Every two years
Water outlet Check drainage and clean if it is needed Monthly
Compressor Check proper working without lowering Every 6 months
Compressor Check proper silent working Every 6 months
    Belt Tighten the belt Monthly
Element setting Check proper working and setting Yearly
Connection cables Check proper working Every 6 months
Plug joint Check proper working Every 6 months
Electric fan Check proper working Every 6 months
Air inlet screen Clean Every 12 hours

    NOTE:

After 100 hour of work, we advise you to check the adaptator of the compresor of the equipment and its fixing points; we also advise you to ckeck the pipes.
    Operation
    The equipment has two controls:

One control regulates the blower's airflow. (If the crewcab is provided with heating or pressurizer, it is the same control). The other control regulates the air temperature by means of a thermostat. The temperature decreases turning the control clockwise.

    Usage:

    1. Turn the engine on
    2. If the crewcab temperature is too hot, open the windows for five minutes to renew the air
    3. Turn the fan to the maximum
    4. Turn the thermostat to the maximum
    5. Once the wished temperature is reached, regulate the airflow and the temperature

Fan switch position 3: Thermostat three quarter turn.
Fan switch position 2: Thermostat two quarter turn.
Fan switch position 1: Thermostat a quarter turn.

    NOTE:

The thermostat cannot be regulated constantly to its maximum position, we will only use it in certain occasions, because it may cause the evaporator to freeze.
To dry up steamed windows, turn the air conditioning and the heating on at once.
    Problems
    Check and Maintenance
    PROBLEM SOLUTION
If the belt is loose -Tighten the belt, since it could jam and break the compressor
If the air conditioning equipment does not cool at all -Check the heating valve is not open.
    -Check the fuses.
    -Check the belt is tight.
-Check the thermostat is not at maximum.
-Check the loading level of the coolant gas circuit (call an expert).
    -Clean the screens.
    -Clean the condenser.
If the air conditioning equipment does not cool properly - Check the belt is tight
    - Clean the condenser.
    - Clean the evaporateur.
    - Check the thermostat is not at maximum.
    - Check the loading level of the coolant gas circuit (call an expert).
Loss of water in the cabin -Check drainage.
    -Clean the air inlet screen.
